Sorry for the late posting. It has been a long day. Good and bad news. Louise went home today for a visit. This is both good and bad because going home for a head injured patient is hard. They love it. They love being home and feeling safe. Louise loved seeing her dogs and her … Continue reading Home visit

The Move
Today was moving day. Just in the nick of time. Louise figured out how to turn off her bed alarm last night. She told Hannah her “secret” that she got up all through the night without “bothering the nurses.” In the rehab facility she is at she will have more freedom to move around, something … Continue reading The Move
Turning a Corner
Today Louise seems to have turned a corner. The doctor had told us that the most swelling happens about 72 hours post-surgery. It has been 74 hours now and she is remarkably better today. The agitation is much lower than yesterday. She is starting to be able to carry on a conversation somewhat. I talked … Continue reading Turning a Corner
Rehab
Louise is moving to rehab tomorrow. We are very excited about that because it means they will be working with her to help her cope with her confusion and such. I don’t know a lot about where or when but I will update when I do. This also means they think she is ready for … Continue reading Rehab

Regular room
Today Louise was moved to a regular room, but before you all run down to the hospital to see her I need to let you know that would not be to her benefit. Bill and Ray went to see Louise. She was much more tired and less responsive, but it was partially because she had a dose of morphine before they got there. Another reason is that she did two physical therapies today. The first one she sat up on the edge of the bed, the second they … Continue reading Tonight

Good News
The news this morning is good! Ray and Bill went to visit Louise this morning at 10:00. They said she is doing much better. She has the use of all her limbs. She was talking and responding. She knew who they were and seems to be recovering well. She is still somewhat confused when she … Continue reading Good News
ICU
We had a chance to visit Louise tonight in ICU. She was still sleeping pretty soundly from the anesthesia. Her vital signs look good, except her blood pressure was a bit elevated. They put her on medicine for that. It is a common issue after surgery. She reached her arms behind her head to try … Continue reading ICU
