I can’t sleep. My heart is heavy in the wee hours of this Thanksgiving morning. I am thinking about my friends. There are so many of you out there that have experienced tremendous grief this year. Several have lost spouses, or children, or parents. Some have lost homes or businesses. Just this week, three of … Continue reading Heavy Heart

Fitness Lesson 21 – Don’t Listen
I am approaching a year of this fitness journey. I started in December last year, but it wasn’t until January that I began to fight back. To take my life back I realized that beating cancer for good is a lot more than enduring treatments. It is about overall health. I am somewhere between 55 … Continue reading Fitness Lesson 21 – Don’t Listen
The Lifter of Your Head
Last week the choir was practicing a song for Sunday. The song inspired me to write. The lyrics say, “Many are they that rise up against me which say of my soul, there is no help for him in God.” I have always interpreted that scripture as one for when you are under attack from … Continue reading The Lifter of Your Head
There’s More- Veteran’s Day- Part 2
Sometimes God uses human experience to show us truths we not comprehend any other way. The Veteran’s Day experience I wrote about in my last blog is one of those times. I think it struck a cord with so many because of the Father/Son bond that came across so strongly. I had long discussions with … Continue reading There’s More- Veteran’s Day- Part 2
Veteran’s Day
I have to tell you about an incredibly moving experience I had today. Each year we have a Veteran’s Day program at our school. We invite local Vets to come in for refreshments and a program in which the school honors them for their service to our country. Teachers put pictures of family members who … Continue reading Veteran’s Day
ReGain
Today Louise started her new therapy. Bill and Ray went with her. Bill was very impressed with the facility. He said that everyone there is trained to work with neuro patients. We have liked the therapists she has had up until this point, however, Bill seems to think this is a much better place for … Continue reading ReGain
Update on Louise
I went for a visit today. Louise looks better. Her cheek is still bruised, but her eye and her chin are normal now. Her face is not as puffy, so she looked more like herself. She is off of steroids all together. I think that is part of the reason she looked more normal. According … Continue reading Update on Louise
Lesson 20- Trust Your Training and Believe
Here is the fitness lesson you knew was coming. I could not walk 60 miles and not learn something. (It is a long one, so settle in.) First, let me say that this walk was one of the hardest things I have ever done. There were many times along the way I wanted to quit. … Continue reading Lesson 20- Trust Your Training and Believe
For Women
I am always seeing spiritual parallels to things around me. The weekend of the 3-day was no different. As inspirational as it was, I found myself missing the spiritual element. It is hard for me to see a couple of thousand people putting their hope more in a cure, than in the God of the … Continue reading For Women
Louise
Sorry its been awhile since I updated you all on Louise. With the walk, I have been occupied writing about the experience. However, that doesn’t mean that I have not been aware of how Louise is doing. Bill spent a couple of days visiting her last week. I went by yesterday and we went again … Continue reading Louise
