Teamwork!

There are three of us. We are a team. From the beginning, we rallied ourselves for the long haul that dementia would inviably bring. It has been every bit as difficult as we thought it would be. We are storm weathered, battered, and exhausted, but we still have each other and that makes all the difference…along with our own support systems of family and friends.

Our journey has brought unexpected twists and turns, which is where our book Navigating the Caregiver’s Journey, was born. All the things we wish we had known are written down, for those caregivers who come behind us. Anyone in a long-term caregiving role can relate to the questions and emotions that result from trying to care for a dependent loved one. It doesn’t matter why the loved one is dependent; the feelings of the caregivers are similar.

Today all three of us got to hold the book in our hands that I received earlier this week. We are proud that, during the hardest season of our lives, we were able to communicate our internal struggles on paper; that we were able to create a safe place for caregivers to land, where they are understood; that this book will break the feelings of isolation that are a part of caregiving. On Tuesday, we will officially launch our baby into the world with the hopes it will bring comfort and validation to caregivers everywhere. We are excited to see and hear where this baby of ours goes. If you have purchased a book during the presale, thank you!!
